From humble beginnings in 2006, The Pet Loo has grown from a simple idea to a global success. Three years may not sound like a long time, but in “pet years” that’s almost half a life span.

The first ever Pet Loo was available on the market in July 2006 and launched on the Australian TV Program “The New Inventors”. It consequently won the People’s Choice Episode Winner 2006. 

Interest in the product grew and over time so did sales throughout Australia.  The first Pet Loo, PL1, was made designed and developed to be strong and durable to make the Loo even tougher it was treated with a UV resistant coating. This way The Pet Loo could be kept indoors and outdoors without product deterioration.

Without appearing unkind to Fido, we had designed The Pet Loo to outlive the dog that uses it. Pup-Pee Solutions was not interested in creating a disposable product or for that mind something cheap and poor in quality – it had to be THE BEST!

The Pet Loo’s appeal was not just aimed at apartment dwellers, but pet owners of all demographics. Even householders with existing backyards were chomping at the bit to get their hands on PL1.

It seemed that pet owners across the country had fallen in love with their Loo’s.

With impressive take up of the product nationally and a steady growth globally, Pup-Pee Solutions were able to acquire a manufacturing facility of our own. The second version of The Pet Loo, PL2, was born in July 2007. This new version had minor aesthetic changes but its functionality was the same. At this stage there was no need to improve on the product.

The new warehouse allowed us to manufacture our range of Pet Loo’s at a faster rate, thus giving the company a chance to spread our wings globally. With enough PL2’s to cover the Australian market we opened our Global Online Store and set up distribution hubs in the USA, Hong Kong and the UK.

To this date there are Pet Loo’s in over 73 countries around the world.

Growth in the market will always lead to growth within the company. As we prepared to enter 2009 we moved into a new manufacturing method; it is considered the “Ferrari” of manufacturing – state of the art and well advanced for any manufacturing facility.

In February 2009 we launched PL3! It has hit shelves all over the world.

Founder of United Pet Group comes out of retirement to endorse a pet toilet

Orlando, FL (February, 2009) – United Pet Group founder Mark Stern has left retirement to sanction a unique dog toilet from Australia he believes will be a smash hit with pet owners.

The Pet Loo is a “back yard in a box” that fits inside homes, so animals can relieve themselves when owners can’t be there. Stern, who has been retired for three years, joined Pet Loo co-inventor Tobi Skovron when he exhibited the product for ‘a twice-a-day problem’ at the Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Florida last week. 

Stern knows pet products – his businesses have been central to the massive growth of what is now a $60 billion plus industry. “When I met Tobi and Nicole and they showed me their product I was very
impressed. The Pet Loo is a unique globally patented solution to an age old problem,” says Stern. 

Until 2005, Stern headed UPG which established brands including Nature’s Miracle, Dingo, 8 in 1, Marine land and Perfecto that lead the global pet industry, today – it was sold to Spectrum Brands in 2005

Skovron, 28, hopes that Stern’s insight will help to grow their business in the world’s largest consumer market. “Strategic advice from someone with Mark’s industry experience is a tremendous asset for our young company as we start to grow in the US,” he says. 

Fate brought Skovron and Stern together in New York last July when Skovron travelled to Manhattan to set up The Pet Loo’s US Office. Skovron and his sister-in-law, Nicole sat next to Stern at Murray’s Bagels.

The rest is history. They stayed in touch and last month Stern agreed to work with the company to dominate pet waste management around the world.

Here at the House of Loo we like to know what pet owners think, what they like and don’t like and most importantly what they want.  

We’ve talked to customers, read their emails and studied their online forums. One of the most common complaints that we hear is how fed up cat owners are of kitty litter. Whether they use clay, crystal or plant derived alternatives, not one brand seemed to provide the customer with everything they wanted. And as fellow cat owners, we too were becoming fed up.

So in June 2008 we launched the Kitty Kat - the third member of the Pet Loo family.The Kitty Kat works in the same way as The Pet Loo and Mini Wee do; synthetic grass that sits on top of a corrugated base, allows urine to filter down into the easy-to-empty catchment jug. Faeces are simply scooped off the top. The Kitty Kat is emptied daily so no urine smells hang around, unlike its counterpart where urine is trapped in the litter until you next decide to empty it.
