The American Pet Products Association is set to release the 2009/2010 APPA National Pet Owners Survey. “Since 1988, APPA has been collecting and publishing the industry's most comprehensive consumer research study of demographics, buying habits and other traits of owners of dogs, cats, fish, birds, reptiles, small animals and now equine.”
Here at the House of Loo we are eagerly awaiting a copy of the survey. It’s a great insight into what our customers want and need for their pets.
“Published every other year, The APPA National Pet Owners Survey has become the premier resource of its kind for manufacturers, retailers and investment professionals alike.
[1]The Survey monitors consumer habits on an ongoing basis in order to identify short and long-term trends in pet ownership, product and service consumption, and lifestyle and media habits.
“In addition to providing an expanded set of valuable in-depth statistics on current pet owner purchasing habits, this study pinpoints preferences on specific services, retail outlets and dollar amount spent per product category and retail outlet. The Survey is intended to develop a consumer profile including behavioral information and lifestyle and media habits such as internet usage, time spent listening to the radio, travel, work, television viewing, leisure activities, pet ownership and online shopping for pet products. Also included in APPA’s National Pet Owners Survey is a Lifestyle and Media Study which examines pet owners in easily understood consumer segments. The segments are defined in terms of what motivates pet ownership and relationships with pets, along with lifestyle and other demographic criterion. This winning combination of information gives you an inside track in the very people who determine where your business is heading: Pet Owners!”
